The Company was established in Diep River near Cape Town back in 1972, initially manufacturing sheet metal kitchen units. In 1992, the company was taken over by
Tony Kromberg and John Bullivant , the focus shifted towards the supply of sheet
metal components for the electronics industry. The company acquired CNC
(Computer Numerically Controlled) punching and bending machinery shortly thereafter, and in so doing greatly expanded its capabilities in terms of both quality and consistency of product, as well as product range.

Melex Industrial employs a full-time staff of 16 people. It is testimony to our work ethic and company philosophy that 11 of our staff have been with us since 1992, with an average of over 15 years service. This incredible loyalty and low staff turnover has meant that the same core staff have grown and developed with us over the last number of years, resulting in high skill levels and better service and consistency for our clients.

Melex Industrial has embarked on a further new chapter. As of the 1 st November 2005 , nine key staff members have become shareholders in the company part of an empowerment deal. Two staff members, Nasiera Hendricks (who has been with the company since 1983) and Alfred Adams (who has been with the company since 1989) have become directors with Tony Kromberg and John Bullivant . Nasiera will coordinate Sales and Production, while Alfred will be responsible for Quality Assurance aspects of the company. John Bullivant will continue to be fully involved in the company on a
day-to-day basis but will increasingly adopt more of a mentoring role.
